Web-inspection systems provider BST Pro Mark (www.bstpromark.com) and web-cleaning equipment maker SDI (www.sdi-inc.com) have agreed to astrategic alliance. According to BST Pro Mark, it will begin marketing SDI-branded web-cleaning systems throughout the US, Mexico, Canada and parts of Central and South America. The SDI line of cleaners containing sticky-roller and vacuum technologies will better complement BST Pro Mark's full line of web-guide and inspection systems.

Web-control systems maker The Montalvo Corp. (www.montalvo.com) has "responded to demand from customers in the People's Republic of China," says president Ed Montalvo, "by establishing Montalvo (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd." Ink-pump manufacturer Graymills (www.graymills.com) celebrates 70 years in business. German specialty chemicals group ALTANA acquires Water Ink Technologies, Inc. The company produces primarily water-based and UV inks, coatings and varnishes for narrow-web package and label-printing applications. Water Ink had 2008 sales of $34 million.
