Anilox-roll cleaning system donation assists flexo education

Future specialists in flexographic print production at Charlotte, North Carolina's Central Piedmont Community College are getting better results thanks to Flexo Wash, LLC, of Louisville, Kentucky.

Mike Potter, CEO of the company, which specializes in cleaning technology for the flexographic printing industry, recently donated an anilox roll cleaning unit and technical support to the school's Harper National Flexographic Center.

The FW991XL Anilox Roll Cleaning Unit donated to Central Piedmont Community College's flexographic program is identical to units Flexo Wash sells to the flexographic printing industry. It is a fully-automated, advanced system that deep cleans and restores all types and sizes of anilox and gravure rolls in 10 - 20 minutes, completely recovering the cell volume.

With this donation, Potter said, students can now gain experience not just in producing the highest quality possible, but also in the care and maintenance of flexographic equipment, making them even more valuable as employees to any printing company.

CPCC's Harper Center offers certification, associate degrees, industry training and continuing education in flexography and graphic imaging. Students graduating from the program are the front line in one of the printing industries fast-growing areas of specialization.

"The more our program grows the harder it has been to keep a consistent cleaning schedule," said Stephen Gerhardt, Applied Technologies Program Developer and Coordinator of the Harper Center. "This unit helps us cement a cleaning routine, ensuring all students are capable of printing at a high and consistent quality that is required of them."
