Packers coater vs. Vikings slitter
Competition is heating up at Rayven, Inc...and not just via the industrial products and release liners that the converter makes. Rivalry extends to the machinery as well.
When I first wrote a feature on Rayven back in early 2005, the company had just installed a new silicone coater. President Joe Heinemann, a native of Wausau, WI, had the equipment painted Green Bay Packers green and gold (with logo) in honor of his homestate team. The trouble is, Rayven is based in St. Paul…Minnesota…and his employees apparently never got over it.
So, back in September, when a new Deacro 800A slitter was added to the company’s stable of machinery, Heinemann had it ordered specifically in Vikings purple (with logo). He went so far as to check the football team’s Website to get the exact PMS color. It’s Pantone 269, by the way.
The moral? While it never hurts to have fun every once in a while, just be sure not to make fun of something as sacred as football.
