ANTEC Conference
May 14, 2008
Hello, I recently returned from a technical conference put on by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and it was a worthwhile trip. In addition to the many fine technical papers it is a fine place to meet peers in our industry and to renew friendships. There are far to many papers to attend all of them (a good thing) but you can visit the SPE web site (www.4spe.org) and review the papers given and if you are interested you can obtain a copy of the conference CD with all of the papers delivered. This is a great way to keep up with technology even if you cannot travel to the conference. Next year it will be held in June in conjunction with NPE in Chicago. Here are a few paper titles which were presented in the Extrusion Division Films session and the Flexible packaging Divisions two sessions.
Extrusion Division Films
· Design And Scale Up: Reproducing The Film Structure-Property Relationship
· Film Blowing Process Stability Analysis For Non-Newtonian Fluids By Using Variational Principles
· The Role Of Molecular Architecture On Rheological Properties And Its Effect On Film-Casting Performance
· Multifunctional, Multilayer, Transparent High Impact Structures By Coextrusion And Lamination
· Experimental Study Of Extrusion And Surface Treatment Of Organo Clay With PET Nanocomposites
· Control Of The Thickness Distribution Of Blown Film By Changing The Flow Channel Gap Of The Die Over The Circumference
Flexible Packaging
· Mechanical Properties Of Heat-Sealed Part In Thermal Laminated Film
· Effect Of Multiple Heat Histories On A Medical-Grade Flexible PVC/Layered Silicate Nanocomposite
· Morphology Development By Chaotic Advection In PA-EVOH Blends With Polymer Component Interactions
· The Effect Of LDPE Content On High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Films For Stretched Film Tapes
· Improvement Of Processability In LDPE-Based Packaging Blown Film
· New UV Absorber For PET Packaging: Better Protection With Less Discoloration
· Development Of Flexible Packaging Structures Permeable To Both Moisture And Oxygen
· Novel Nanobiocomposites With Antimicrobial Properties Of Interest In Packaging Applications
· Advance Results Of A Prospective Study On Flexible Plastic Packaging In Andean Countries: Scenarios And Strategies For The Period 2003 – 2013
I would encourage you all to look up an interesting topic and read more about it. I have been fortunate in my career to have read and heard many fine papers which has considerably improved my knowledge of polymer processing.
Chance favors the prepared mind.
