Passing along higher costs to customers
February 17, 2008
Just a short follow-up to my post of Feb. 10:
Our Website Poll asked, "The cost of many package-printing consumables from inks and substrates to plates and coatings is going up. Do you think all of these recent price increases are justified?" As of today, 63.64% said yes; 36.36% said no. So, there does seem to be a good consensus that materials suppliers are not just raising prices to make more money.
But, for you, the question then becomes, "How successful are you in passing along these price hikes to your CPG and/or industrial customers?" Please take our Website Poll now on the home page, and I'll report the results next week.
Also, leave me a comment below. If you're truly unable to raise your prices, what are you doing to handle the situation? If you've raised your prices and gotten away with it, what hints can you give others in the industry?
