Laser engraved rolls use YAG technology

This co. offers three laser engraved anilox rolls: Opticell™, Unicell™, and Lazmec™. Each uses the co.'s Optilaser™ sealed beam, single gas engraving and YAG laser engraving technology. The Opticell laser engraving is produced with a single gas 150-watt laser to provide volume control and color transfer in screens up to 1,500 LPI. Another laser engraving system, the Univercell™, is produced with a 40-watt multi-hit process and also provides volume control, color transfer and an extended volume range with screens up to 2,000 LPI.

Jet spray pressure & detergent cleans rolls

The Tempest™ 10SG Jet Spray Cabinet Cleaner harnesses the cleaning power of heated, water-based detergent and jet spray pressure to clean anilox rolls. It features adjustable pressure of up to 2.2 gal/min. at up to 400 psi. The machine forces away dried ink, dirt and deposits with abrasion. The Tempest is built of stainless steel to resist corrosion and to be easily cleaned. Safety features include attached neoprene gloves to protect worker's hands while allowing for easy manipulation of items, along with automatic power cut-off to the pump and the blower that cleans the window when the unit is opened. A foot-pedal switch provides on/off capability and frees the worker's hands for use in cleaning.

Multi-roll ultrasonic cleaners can clean one to six anilox rolls or cylinders without removing gears and bearings. High-frequency sound waves produce intense microscopic bubbles that gravitate into cylinder surfaces and cells. When these bubbles implode, the dried ink and resin particles are drawn out of the cells, resulting in a clean, like-new surface.

The Predator is a new product designed to clean tough, dried-on ink on anilox rollers and restore cavity volume. It deep cleans and restores the anilox roller cell cavities without harming them. The Predator is tailored to clean up solvent-based inks as well as difficult to clean ink, such as metallic.

Rolls resist ink adhesion

Rainbow™ rolls, laser-engraved ceramic anilox rolls, are available with a patented release treatment that gives the engraved surface of the roll the ability to resist ink adhesion. The rolls have a microporosity polymer sealer over the entire engraved roll surface that permeates the structure of the ceramic coating itself.

Cleaning system employs special plastic media

This cleaning system employs a patented plastic media and is able to deep-clean ceramic and chrome anilox rolls. The media is said to be fine enough to reach into the cell and pick away the ink or adhesive without damaging the cell walls. It is resilient and malleable, so on impact it tends to compress and then bounce back. This allows for the picking action.

Solution cleans plugged cells for on-press rolls

The Quick Clean™ ceramic anilox-roll cleaner removes water-based, UV or solvent-based inks from plugged cells. The cleaning restores cell volume for increased color intensity. Wipe Quick Clean on the roll with a rag and run in, then flip the rag and start removing the ink from the cells. It can clean rolls between color changes to make color matching easier.

Anilox rolls with flexo printing & laser technology

Co. provides anilox rolls with combined technology in flexographic printing and laser technology. Over a corrosive-resistant metal bond coat, an extra-heavy layer of specialty formulated ceramic is applied. Because this layer is over twice as thick as most conventional ceramic rolls, it is said to be more durable and less likely to chip or "pop off."
