With the a little help from one of their speakers, converting professionals in the Intl. Assn. of Diecutting & Diemaking recently learned to "control the stress of success."
During the group's midyear leadership conference March 30-31 in St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., Tom Jackson of Charlotte-N.C.-based Executive Renaissance Forums gave hints on how IADD members can realign their personal and work life to reduce stress.
In his first presentation, Jackson focused on personal insight. This covered the cycle of change, your ideal life, and seven rules you can apply to any challenge. From this discussion, members came away with a new perspective on their goals and what they wanted to change in their lives.
The second presentation looked at business insight. Each member was asked to make a "strengths statement" and an "issues statement" list based on their company. Members then performed a business assessment on their company. With these items in hand, attendees planned strategies addressing problems and how to go about achieving solutions.
Results of the IADD's "1000 in 2000 Member-Get-A-Member Campaign" were announced March 31. The top member-getter was Michael Barkin, president of A.D.S.-Pacific, Santa Fe Springs, Calif. Barkin received a plaque and two free airline tickets for his efforts. Forty-five members in all were presented with plaques for their participation in the campaign.
