Tapemark acquires Snap!® division of Smyth Cos.

-- Converting Magazine, 8/25/2008

St. Paul, MN-based labelmaker Smyth Cos. (www.smythco.com) sells its Snap! ® operating division to Tapemark (www.tapemark.com), also of St. Paul. Snap! is a single-dose packaging sachet marketed by Smyth Co.

In 2006, Smyth and Tapemark entered into a licensing agreement relative to Tapemark’s use of Snap! technologies in its pharmaceutical, cosmetics and OTC-drug contract-manufacturing markets. The agreement transfers all intellectual property rights and manufacturing capabilities to Tapemark, and allows Smyth Cos. to focus on its core label business.

“This agreement is good for Snap! existing and potential customers, as it will allow them the Snap! manufacturing capabilities they desire; while at the same time providing Smyth additional resources to aid us in sustaining our growth in our core products and markets,” says John Hickey, Smyth Cos. CEO.
