Lay-flat measurement unit yields quality sleeve labels
Booth 837
Used to monitor and control the finished lay-flat quality on machines that produce sleeve-label products, the new ProSleeve™ employs a high-resolution CCD camera on the “seamer” machine and notifies the operator when actual size exceeds specifications or begins to drift. The unit contains filter packages to enhance web edges and let it see common sleeve-label substrates—PVC, PET, OPS and SBC—and to measure to +/-0.1 mm. An optional reporting module links the data output from the ProSleeve to a PC for documents on-demand.

Short web-path, sleeved press to make US debut

Hailed for its short web path—only 1,650 mm between print units, the X-Flex features greatly reduced setup times and low waste levels, says co. A patented concept of integrating the flexo-print unit with the impression cylinder and chill drum reportedly improves print quality, speeds registration and optimizes tension control for film substrates. The servo-driven, sleeved press offers UV-flexo, flexo and rotary-screen print methods at speeds of up to 250 meters/min.
