Butt splicer

This co. offers an automatic heat-seal butt splicer for garbage-bag drawstrings. The heat-seal butt splice is said to be stronger than the base material and is sellable, reducing waste by eliminating culling, says co. With a 3-in. web width and a 25-in. roll dia., it is capable of running at 300 fpm. These splicers are constructed with cantilevered aluminum plates and carbon fiber rollers.
