Drupa 2008 Fast Facts:

Helpful hints for surviving the world's largest print media show next month

Editor: Mark Spaulding -- Converting Magazine, 4/1/2008

Show organizer Messe Dusseldorf provides the following quick checklist of helpful tips for making the most of your excursion to drupa 2008. The show runs May 29-June 11.

  1. Public transportation is recommended for getting to the Fairgrounds. Visitor and exhibitor entrance passes allow you free use of all public transportation within the Rhine-Ruhr and Rhein-Seig transportation network on all days of the show.
  2. Taxi fares are made up of a basic flat rate plus a charge per kilometer. Board taxis at stands only and just round up to the next full Euro amount for tipping.
  3. Rental cars are available at the airport, main train station and several downtown locations.
  4. An online catalog helps you locate exhibitors and products. Terminals are in each hall.
  5. The Fairgrounds has a Service Center for your shopping, mailing, banking and travel needs.
  6. Messe = fairgrounds; Eingang = entrance; Ausgang = exit; Notausgang = emergency exit; WC = restroom
  7. Shops are generally open 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday and closed Sunday.
  8. At restaurants, water does not accompany the meal but can be ordered by bottle. Service charge is included in the bill, but you can opt to tip your server by handing it to him or her directly.

To say you should have made your travel arrangements for drupa 2008 already is really not an exaggeration. But fear not, there are still hotel rooms available within a reasonable distance.
