Safety chucks
For low- and high-torque rolls
Co.'s extensive safety chuck line includes the 900/910 series, tilt closing ring models with standard square U and V socket designs. The V socket design allows square-shaft journals to orient quickly into proper seating in the chuck socket. The 927 series with sliding closing ring has standard replaceable square V and square/round VO sockets to accommodate various journal designs. The chucks can handle low-torque material rolls to high-torque rolls weighing over 10,000 lbs.

Surface winder
Features new upgrades, compact hydraulics
Co. has upgraded its PAC 50 series surface winders to include a compact hydraulic system, which uses high-speed digital electronics for lay-on pressure control. This feature reduces blocking at the core, co. says. The new design also has a device to bring the new core up to speed prior to transfer for smoother starts on thin, high-speed webs. An additional integrated shaft hoist system allows operators to return the shaft to the transfer position without lifting the shaft.

Braille adhesive-application system
Uses three-module gun
Co.'s Braille adhesive-application system features a three-module e.dot gun, a specially developed Braille-code pattern controller and co.'s adhesive melter. The all-electric e.dot gun applies adhesive Braille coding to packaging at a height of 0.5 mm, which meets the current established guidelines for Braille readability, co. says. It uses a clear adhesive for coding so as not to interfere with the packaging's graphics and is capable of interpreting multiple languages into Braille.

Length and speed measurement gauge
With configurable I/O
The LaserSpeed® 4000 length and speed measurement gauge uses Laser Doppler Velocimetry technology to measure the length and speed of any moving surface to an accuracy of +/-0.05 percent. This non-contact gauge also features Ethernet communication and configurable I/O for easy integration into any control or monitoring system. These were designed to be drop-in replacements for any type of mechanical tachometer. Other benefits include no slippage, no marking of the product and permanent calibration, co. reports.

Rotary screens
Applies high dots of paste without smearing
By using special screens and extra rollers to guide the substrate around the screen, co. has found a solution to the pre-flow problem of paste pouring through the screen before the substrate reaches the application point. This new invention now enables operators to apply high dots of paste on a substrate without smearing. It also opens up a new range of applications, co. says, including anti-skid patterns and relief printing, with rotary-screen technology. Dots and patterns from 50 to 1,000 µm have already been successfully applied.
