Next Generation buys third W&H line

Three-layer blown-film unit to run this summer

-- Converting Magazine, 2/1/2008

Three-layer blown-film specialist Next Generation Films purchases a third 3-layer VAREX® extrusion line from Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp. The 87-in., high-output system (below) will further enhance the Lexington, OH-based substrate maker's already diverse capabilities. The new line is expected to be operational this summer.

Next Generation Films installed its first W&H blown-film line—also a 3-layer VAREX—back in 2001. After experimenting with technology from other suppliers, the decision to invest in a second VAREX extrusion line marked the company's return to W&H as its blown-film equipment supplier. Shortly after the successful startup of that line last fall, the 126-in. line was already pushing through over 2,100 lbs/hr of high-quality film, with gauge variation below 4% and layflat control so tight that Next Generation Films is able to run trimless.
