Portal stats show converting products in demand

With final 2007 demographics and portal activity analyzed from last fall's industry event in Las Vegas, CPP EXPO releases details of the review that clearly dictate the need for more converting and package-printing equipment, machinery, materials and ancillary supplies. With CPP EXPO accounting for about 30,000 sq ft of exhibit space (less than 10% of the overall exhibit space occupied by the co-located expositions, PACK EXPO and PROCESS EXPO), demographics indicate that 36% of industry professionals attending the overall event specified interest in converting equipment, materials and supplies.
When buyer demographics are analyzed in conjunction with portal activity, the results are critical in targeting growth areas for the event. BDMetrics (the organization managing the online portal for CPP-PACK-PROCESS Expos) “scores” the exhibitor representation versus attendee interest to determine where exhibitor supply must be increased to meet attendee interest demand, and vice-versa. The top areas for demand were in paper and paperboard, carton equipment and supplies, inks, and applicators (coating, laminating). In addition, the portal stats show that of the top 25 keywords searched, eight were converting-specific: labels, tapes, printing, corrugated, cartons, films, pouches and bags.
“We know we have our work cut out for us,” says CPP EXPO president Leo Nadolske. “The tough part of a tradeshow is bringing in the buyers; these results confirm that we have the buyers so that’s been accomplished. Now, it's our job to demonstrate to suppliers that this is the place they should be."
CPP EXPO, PACK EXPO and PROCESS EXPO are stand-alone exhibitions co-locating to showcase an overall supply chain event. These expos will partner, once again, in Chicago Nov. 9-13 at the McCormick Place Complex.
