Case label printer/applicator
Model 5300 is the co.'s new label printer/applicator, which it says combines modular design with high speed, high-quality label printing, application and optional RFID encoding. Reportedly providing a variety of pressure-sensitive application methods including air-blow, tamp-blow, corner-wrap and two-label/adjacent panel labeling, the 5300 also is said to feature a repositionable operator interface and the capability to incorporate a user-specific PLC and remote monitor via a Web browser. Standard print engines produce images at 203- or 300-dpi, with labels dispensed at rates to 16 in./sec.

Shipping-case printer
Aiming to free converters from relying on preprinted shipping cases, co. debuts its OPTIMIZER case printer to enable development of a generic case-printing program. Co. claims buyers gain purchasing power by consolidating multiple products into common case sizes, eliminating the management, waste and cost premium of short preprint runs, while retaining two key advantages of preprint: print quality and a large print area.

Side-loading case packer
Co.'s GSL 20 side-load case packer can process up to 20 cases/min, in accordance with the case size and product arrangement. The case packer guarantees case erection and positive handling and uses advanced technology, which involves servo motors for the main machine movements and the pneumatic system used only for the secondary movements. The size changeover for the case-packing section does not require the replacement of any size parts, but is carried out using hand-wheels with millimetric-reference scales and panel adjustments to adapt the GSL 20 case packer to the new dimensions of the case to be handled.

Pallet stretchwrapper
The FA-44 automatic, rotary-turntable stretchwrapper has a maximum turntable speed of 16 RPM. It handles loads weighing up to 5,000 lbs and features co.'s “open” mechanical design, 100-percent structural steel construction and ring-bearing turntable support with a chain and sprocket drive. The Orion Insta-Thread film-delivery system faces the side for easier film-roll loading and threading. The system uses specially designed rollers to accurately elongate film at a standard rate of 260 percent. This prestretch system reportedly features the fastest, easiest and safest film loading on the market, and an advanced “non-contact” film-tension sensor for years of trouble-free wrapping.

Damaged-roll restorer
Several models of co.'s Roll Restorer can help converters salvage material-roll products on damaged or crushed cores. The equipment uses hydraulic pressure to reform damaged cores from 2 to 12 in. ID. Mobile carts provide ease of storage and mobility while carrying all expander heads and flanges for different core sizes. When damaged cores prevent conventional unwind mounting, operators can now easily salvage good product and avoid lost productivity.

Forklift pallet-bumper
The Blue Guardian pallet-bumper forklift attachment is said to reduce damage to the packaging of palletized products, as the forklift impact is redirected and absorbed into the center block of the pallet. The 18.75x7x0.4-in. attachment has an impact-resistant, carbon-steel frame and a rubber bumper for energy absorption. It is compatible with block or stringer pallets.

Roll racking system
The Roll Handler ™ secures and protects single or multiple rolls of product during shipping. Specially configured end walls interlock with lumber rails to create a sturdy, durable shipping package. Rolls are secured and suspended end-to-end with co.'s sleeve plugs. Pre-cut slots on rail ends accept standard steel or plastic banding to prevent rails from being jostled during handling and transportation.

High-speed robotic palletizer
Co. launches its new high-speed, robotic-palletizing solution, which uses multiple robotic arms. Robots use servo wrists to rotate cases for faster, gentler product handling. A multiple-robot palletizing cell may also be an alternative to traditional palletizing in facilities where floor space is at a premium. The high-speed, robotic-palletizing cell enables four-way orientation of cases, which is said to be ideal in the packaging industry.
