Congratulations! It's a new Website
Mark Spaulding, Editor in Chief -- Converting Magazine, 12/1/2007
As I write this month's Viewpoint, our new Website is all of four days old, and already a couple thousand visitors have perused the content. All of us at Converting —from the editors and sales staff to the technical Web gurus behind the scenes—were acting like proud, new parents when the site went live. It's pretty gratifying to have so many readers come check out our new baby at www.convertingmagazine.com
It's not an exaggeration to say that the site probably has double the content of the previous version, originally launched back in early 2000. And it's all a lot easier to find, too, from the eight different drop-down menus along the top as well as from the new Zibb-powered, site search engine.
Next up is our expanded Frontline News section with article abstracts, photos and graphics. Whereas in the past, we were limited to daily updates to our industry news coverage, we can now post the latest stories almost as they happen. So, as I've written here before, if you want to know what's going on in the package-printing and converting field, you need to check here daily—or even twice each business day. Also take advantage of the News from the Web module with feeds from across the Internet.
Have a special area of interest? Our nine Converting Topics channels gather all related features, columns and news items in one place, for example, for Flexible Packaging. In fact, that channel along with Slitter/Rewinder and Coater/Laminator were among the Top 20 most-visited parts of the Website in its first active days.
Want to let our new site do some of the work for you? Frontline News, all nine channels and our blogs (more on that below) have RSS feeds. Just copy the appropriate URLs to your own RSS Reader, and our headlines and links will automatically show up in your personalized Google, Yahoo, AOL or other application.
Of course, the new Website is more than just a one-way street. There are opportunities throughout to Talkback to us by posting a comment, especially as they might apply to our blogs. From my Converting Curmudgeon and Jorina Fontelera's Converting on the Road to Eldridge Mount's Substrate Secrets and John Kalkowski's Packaging by Design, we want to hear from you.
You know Converting Magazine has always been a vital information source. Now, with our re-vamped Website, we can help you do your job even better.
