St. Louis-based pressmaker Mark Andy presented a wide range of new servo-drive technology for the production of film labels and flexible packaging at last month's Labelexpo Europe in Brussels. Star of the show was the new Comco C2, which received its European debut when EFTA director Lesley Hide helped Mark Andy president Paul Brauss "cut the ribbon" on the company's exhibit. The new Comco C2 line brings more speed, agility and productivity to film and package converting with its innovative I-Drive™ technology, says co. The C2 benefits from more than a decade of proven success with the Comco ProGlide MSP in film and packaging markets around the world. I-Drive is particularly suited to short- and medium-length runs, maximizing productivity and quality at high speed in the narrow or mid-web markets. The Comco C2 is targeted at costly multi-step production work flows more usually associated with CI-flexo presses. The third C2 was sold during the exhibition.
In Brussels, the Mark Andy XP5000 press ran two different film jobs with full inspection on one of the company's VSR300 lines. The 2200 press also ran two film jobs with live demonstrations throughout the day. With today's applications requiring sensitive and expensive films, the XP5000 and film-enabled 2200 offer converters an advantage over competitors at any level of application difficulty, says co.
