Wynnchurch Capital, a Chicago private-equity firm, acquires a majority interest in Neenah, WI-based Webex, Inc. (www.webexinc.com), maker of rolls and web-handling machinery for converting applications. Webex has primary product lines of precision engineered rolls and converting components, in addition to specialized web-handling machinery.
BST Pro Mark's (www.bstpromark.com) demonstration center in Elmhurst, IL, now includes a Mark Andy VSR100 rewinder (www.markandy.com) and is used to demonstrate both companies' equipment. BST Pro Mark's Shark 100%-inspection system with both BW and color cameras mounted on the Mark Andy VSR rewinder shows the full capabilities of both the rewinder and the inspection system.
In related news, as part of its growth strategy to serve emerging markets in India and Southeast Asia, narrow-web pressmaker Mark Andy (www.markandy.com) signs a long-term contract with a multinational engineering and software development firm based in Bangalore, India. Mark Andy will build a dedicated team of engineers and software professionals to provide additional resources to expand product line offerings and equipment capabilities.
Prepress-solution providers Esko (www.esko.com) and the three principal shareholders of Artwork Systems will combine their operations. The resulting new entity will consolidate the market position of both companies in packaging and printing preproduction products and services in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
