Integrated workflow

Combines press and inspection rewinder

The XP5000 is the first press in co.'s line to use servo-drive technology. It will be combined with co.'s VSR300 inspection rewinder and presented at Labelexpo Europe 2007 next month in Brussels. This integrated concept gives full access to the entire operating system from any of the press' control panels. Troubleshooting can be done on or offline. By linking the two, co. has created a secure enivoronment for 100-percent product inspection.

Polypropylene films

For pouch and lidding applications

Converters can now get their hands on two new FDA-approved cast polypropylene sealant films for retort-pouch and lidding applications. The CPP ZK100 film for retort-pouch contructions offers exceptional clarity, low haze, non-whitening and stress-crack resistance. The CPP CF9501 sealant film for retort lidding creates a secure, easy-to-peel lamination which can be used on PP containers. These new films withstand sterilization temperatures up to 135 deg. C.

Sheetfed blanket

With special compressible layer

The new S 106M sheetfed blanket is built to match the specifications and performance parameters of co.'s presses and is the first product from co.'s printcom supply line in North America. The blanket is made with a special compressible layer that facilitates constant high-speed press operation without the appearance of shock marks. The compressibility also results in greater durability, promoting print quality that lasts over the long run, co. says. It features a micro-buffed printing face and has one of the lowest gauge loss ratings, which helps it keep its shape better and have more print consistency in the long term.

On-press print inspection

Reports defects by location

The new NYSCAN Web:Inspector:2 compares each printed image to a master reference. Based on parameters established by the job requirement, defects are reported by location on the web and categorized by severity. Every defect is stored in the Roll Map database of the roll being printed. This map, which can be viewed during production, can also be used for quality reporting, process monitoring, and when combined with co.'s Roll:Scheduler:1, can control the finishing process.
