Sunshine plastics to install Comexi laminator

Comexi solventless laminator displayed at CMM

Staff -- Converting Magazine, 7/1/2007

Montebello, CA-based flexible-packaging converter Sunshine Plastics purchases the Comexi Nexus EVO solventless laminator exhibited in the Flexible Packaging Technology Ctr. at CMM Intl. 2007. Sunshine Plastics, a vertically integrated manufacturer that extrudes film, prints and makes bags and pouches, and specializes in food packaging, will use the new system to round out its converting capabilities.

Cost efficiency and environmental benefits are key attributes of the 52-in. Nexus EVO solventless laminator, says Rick Ruenzel, business development director for Comexi North America. The versatile unit runs film, foil and certain types of paper substrates at speeds of up to 1,300 fpm, using a two-component adhesive. Its compact design, which features shaftless winding and quick changeovers via a sleeve option for the coating metering roll, is also equipped with Siemens PLCs, Eurotherm drives and an Enercon Industries corona treater.
