Tension meter

Co. launches its Digital Tension Meter featuring a simple LCD readout with 0.6-in. bright red digits and a selectable decimal point. It displays web tension in areas of the web where access to a tension controller is not required or convenient for the operator. A high-impact plastic case and sealed front panel ensure operation in washdown or dusty environments. The DTM features DIN rail mounts and simplified wiring connections for easy installation.

Tension sensor

Co.'s new CA203 Series Tension Sensors feature signature stainless-steel sensor bodies, 10-times overload protection, 0.5-percent accuracy class and a 20:1 measuring range. The CA203 Series is available in nominal forces of 28, 56, 112, 225 and 337 lbs, with dead-shaft adapters for 1-, 1.25- and 1.5-in. diameter shafts. High-quality CA203 sensors combine all these features into an economical package for any application.

Tension roll

The new SR Segmented Tension Roll transducer, shown at CMM Intl. 2007, is an extension of co.'s Tension Roll® Transducer—a dead-shaft idler roll with integrated tension sensors at the roll's end. The SR Segmented Tension Roll allows converters to measure tension on multiple individual web strands in a slitting/rewinding environment or at multiple points across the width of a single web when converting or rewinding film. If found early enough, minor gauge band variations across a substrate can sometimes be compensated for in-process. By monitoring and controlling tension, slight defects in roll stock do not automatically translate into a defective finished product, co. says.

Tension control system

Designed for closed- and open-loop tension control, the DGT family of controllers offers special features able to deal with application-parameter variations such as web elasticity, bobbin rotational inertia, continuous or stop-and-go running processes, range of diameter variation and others. The system is compatible with any basic position sensor and any kind of load-cell technology. It includes web tension control-specific functions such as e-stop proportional to set point, soft start, hold and release, taper tension and non-stop splice turrets.

Non-hydraulic web-control system

Co. can specify, design and provide all the necessary components, including mounting hardware, to help converters switch from pneumo-hydraulic or electro-hydraulic power units to a non-hydraulic based control system. Co. can design the web-guiding system based on the application and equipment layout. Co. has electro-mechanical retrofit packages specifically for unwinds, displacement guides and steering guides.
