CMM showcases all the extras

The latest in components and materials provide dozens more reasons to attend CMM Intl. 2007 in June.

By Melissa Larson, Managing Editor -- Converting Magazine, 3/1/2007

As we mentioned in the February issue (“CMM show charts new course,” pgs. 24-26), the upcoming CMM Internation 2007 show, June 4-7 at the Donald. E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL will attract attendees who want to see converting machinery running on the exhibit floor. That mainly means presses, slitters, rewinders, laminators and the like.

But many CMM showgoers come looking for “the extras” to upgrade or finetune their operations: better web-handling options, new inks and coatings, inspection systems, etc. They'll find these components and materials in abundance at the upcoming show. Following are some highlighted exhibitors of materials and components.

Booth by booth

AccuWeb (Booth 817) will exhibit its web-guide systems, which are found on process and production lines throughout the world. Widely recognized for its patented, fully compensated array edge detectors, the company offers a variety of models and detection ranges using both ultrasonic and infrared technology. Accuweb systems also include digital color line-guide sensors. All designs are simple, highly durable, and easy to install with plug-n-play connections.

Badger Plug (Booth 1851) (photo 6.) will be touting its status as the world's largest provider of roll suspension and protection solutions, including core plugs, endboards and sleeve plugs, pad plugs, tube closures and spool plugs, along with quality components for secure roll packaging and unitizing. The company offers in-depth experience, product selection and readily available inventory, as well as dedication to quality products, competitive pricing and on-time delivery.

Componex (Booth 2736) is an innovator in the field of precision roll manufacturing for the web handling and converting industry. The company leads the way in lightweight dead shaft idler roll technology with its patented Winertia™ product line—the lightest weight, most highly engineered product in the industry.

Winertia™ products run faster, smoother, cooler and with less whip, due to the lighter weight and a unique 3D balancing process. Precise 3D balancing is achieved because of the patented design of the inner tubing wall. This design allows Componex to drive weights to the center of the idler tube along built in balancing lugs. This longitudinal balancing provides better performance and a longer life for Winertia™ idlers. The company's unique product design and streamlined manufacturing process allows them to deliver a premium product at a competitive cost.

Dover Flexo Electronics Inc. (DFE) (Booth 114) (photo 4.) will be displaying its web tension control, tension measurement and tension indication products for converters, process manufacturers and web printers worldwide. The company's product line includes tension transducers, tension controllers, tension amplifiers & indicators, pneumatic brakes, and custom engineered solutions.

Enercon (Booth 1445) (photo 3.) is the world's leading manufacture of surface-treating systems and associated support equipment. Companies in the printing, coating, laminating and extruding industries rely on Enercon to provide surface-treating solutions that functionalize the surfaces of a variety of materials.

The company is committed to delivering the most technologically advanced and cost-effective solutions. Application-specific solutions ensure maximum uptime and performance. Enercon's worldwide support operations are unsurpassed as the industry's most accessible and comprehensive.

Flexo Wash (Booth 1115) will exhibit innovative and high quality cleaning equipment to satisfy the needs of flexo and gravure printers worldwide, contributing to an improved print quality, high productivity and a healthy environment. Fully automatic anilox roll cleaners are designed to deep clean and restore anilox rolls or gravure cylinders of all sizes.

INX International (Booth 1751) (photo 2.) will exhibit its extensive range of application- and substrate-matched solutions which include multiple-substrate inks, laminates and coatings that also simplify inventory and avoid mix-ups.Retort, shrink films, folding carton, bags, corrugated, tag & label—the multiple demands of high-performance packaging not only can be tough to meet, but often are at odds with each other.

INX offers comprehensive solutions for converters' specific application and process. In addition, every INX solution comes with application-savvy specialists who can further help reduce waste, boost productivity and bottom line returns.

Maxcess Intl. (Booth 421) will showcase products from its Fife, Tidland and MAGPOWR product lines that help printers and converters increase their efficiency, decrease downtime, maximize throughput and minimize waste.

The company offers a full line of web components and accessories for slitting, winding, guiding, inspection and tension control to help printers and converters accomplish their business objectives.

The Montalvo Corp. (Booth 1225) (photo 1.) will be showing its TNT-Series web tension sensing roll, which combines the best of both worlds in one package. It features a sensitive strain gauge system coupled with a durable, high performance, lightweight aluminum tube to produce an integrated sensing roll. The roll fits virtually any application, features flexible mounting options, and comes in a wide variety of sizes and many load ranges.

Prime UV (Booth 2629) manufactures state-of-the-art UV curing and IR drying systems for printers, converters, packagers and industrial coaters worldwide. Prime UV curing and IR drying systems are easily installed on both new presses and as retrofits on existing presses and machinery.

Prime UV curing equipment instantly cures UV inks, coatings and adhesives. Company's products maximize productivity and profits, increasing converters' product line and customer base.

Tilt-Lock (Booth 502) (photo 5.) will feature fingertip-control roll handling. Tilt-Lock's patented Tip Lift® System actually lifts, turns and transports rolls, coil, or spool materials such as paper, film, or foil with the push of a button. A Tip Lift® System can substantially cut costs by speeding up production, reducing material damage and eliminating workers compensation claims associated with roll handling. Tip Lift® models are available with lifting capacities ranging from ten pounds to one ton.

A complete selection of roll handling, coil handling, material handling, and spool handling equipment and accessories are also available. Tilt-Lock also offers the widest range of mechanical core chucks available.
