Hickory, NC-based flex-pack maker Plastic Packaging, Inc. (www.ppi-hky.com), will install two Flexpress 16 S gearless, sleeved presses from Fischer & Krecke (www.fischer-krecke.de). The 59-in., 10-color CI-flexo systems (at right) are expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2007.
Founded in 1957, PPI is a flexo printer and converter operating three manufacturing facilities in North Carolina. Capabilities include printed rollstock, mono- and coex-film extrusion, laminations, bags, pouches and polyethylene sleeve labels for seafood, poultry, snack foods, bakery, nutraceuticals, chemicals, home furnishings and other industries.
“To continue to be an industry leader we decided to increase productivity and upgrade technology to provide our customers with greater value and superior responsiveness,” says Preston Bryant, PPI operations manager. “After carefully researching several press manufacturers we chose F&K as the partner to move us forward in the rapidly changing business environment of flexographic printing.”
