Environmentally-friendly UV coatings

High-luster pearl coating

The RAD-KOTE K26130HLP Series of high-luster pearl coatings for flat and rotary screen and flexo application have low odor and low extractables. Adhesion to and scratch resistance on paper and plastics is excellent, co. says, and indoor fade resistance is good, but direct exposure to prolonged sunlight is not recommended. Its very fine particle size eliminates piling or clogging of application equipment as well.

Digital coating technology

True Digital Coating (TDC) can be applied to digitally produced and conventionally printed media requiring only a graphic file. This non-contact process does not necessitate the use of plates and can perform flood and spot-coating. Color-changing UV/EB coating

Phantavision® is a color-changing UV/EB coating that presents a variety of colors at different angles. UV topcoat prevents bar codes from scuffing

Craigcoat 1071S is a UV topcoat that can withstand up to 500 deg F to prevent bar codes from scuffing. It also protects substrates during wave soldering on PC boards or during personalization of business forms using hot lasers. It is available in high-gloss or matte finishes and can be applied by a variety of printing methods. It can be used in other applications requiring temperature resistance as well.

UV Coating inhibits fade

Co.’s 22459-77 UV-screen coating has been engineered and tested to withstand fade by absorbing a portion of the UV rays in sunlight before they hit the printed ink. It can be used as a stand-alone defense against fade or in conjunction with fade-resistant inks. Applied by flatbed or rotary-screen methods, this coating also exhibits good flexibility when cured and cures without the need for special systems such as doped bulbs or microwave units.
