Installs Nordmeccanica laminator, Deacro slitter

As part of a major capital-investment initiative to upgrade processes and capabilities, Elgin, IL-based flex-pack film and foil converter Constantia Multifilm Packaging (www.multifilm.com) installs a solvent-free Nordmeccanica (www.nordmeccanica.com) Super Simplex SL laminator (at right).
“Lamination has long been a bottleneck for us,” says Constantia Multifilm president and chief executive officer Olle Mannertorp. “Our business has recently shifted toward structures that require advanced lamination, and the Nordmeccanica meets both our speed requirements and provides the destruct bonds that our customers need.”
Explains plant engineer Dave Rohr-schneider, “A solvent-free laminator has no exhaust and is therefore a more environmentally friendly machine. It's important to us to offer environmentally sound products, and our equipment and manufacturing process have to live up to that standard, too.”
The Nordmeccanica installation is the second step in the converter's investment initiative that started earlier this year with the purchase of a new Deacro Industries (www.deacro.com) turret slitter/rewinder. Capable of speeds up to 1,500 fpm, the Deacro slitter (above) features a turret rewind and automatic roll-management system, making it ideal for Constantia Multifilm's large-volume runs.
