Korean Machinery Maker Sung An Opens Major Plant Expansion for Export Products

Staff -- Converting Magazine, 12/1/2006

Korea's Sung An Machinery (SAM) held an open house in October, showcasing its new 218,000-sq-ft manufacturing facility expansion. Located about 30 miles from Seoul, the site helps the 46-year-old maker of various converting and plastics machinery better serve customers across Asia and to its new export markets in the US and Europe.

“Expanding our manufacturing presence with this new facility will clearly demonstrate our strong commitment to world converting and plastics markets,” says SAM president and chief executive officer D.H. Shin. Future plans include continuous growth in engineering staff, new worldwide sales and service offices, and operational alliances with other industry companies—both suppliers and converters, SAM says.

During the open house, SAM unveiled its new Hi Ex 90/65 extrusion coater (above) with Cloeren coextrusion feedblock and automatic EBR-IV 17 13 SUNG AN MACHINERY Internal Deckled Die; and the Champion 500 gravure printing press (with speeds up to 1,600 fpm).

Additional equipment on display included the SAM MRC-313 precision, solution roll coater (with up to 13 different coating modes); and the HIFLEX in-line flexo press designed to handle folding-carton materials.
