Mark Spaulding -- Converting Magazine, 11/1/2006

Hamilton, OH-based Innovative Labeling Solutions (ILS) purchases its second HP Indigo ws4050 digital press (www.hp.com) along with an upgrade package that includes HP's new fast-ink replacement feature. The new press, bought at Labelexpo Americas 2006, will help ILS gain greater efficiency and productivity in its mainstream flexo-printed label production, the company says. “Since we purchased our first HP Indigo ws4050 in January, we've won a lot of new business producing sales samples and other short-run products such as nutraceutical labels,” says ILS president Jay Dollries. “The new press will also be used to meet a groundswell in small-order quantity and multiple-SKU work from existing flexo customers.”

As a packaging converter for high-end clients in the publishing, tool, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries, Rice Packaging needed a reliable press to manage its growing needs. The Ellington, CT-based converter chose a new 6-color Speedmaster CD 102 sheetfed-offset press with Prinect Image Control from Heidelberg USA (www.heidelberg.com). “Heidelberg presses are reliable,” says Rice marketing manager Dale Stevens. Rice expects to see tremendous productivity increases with the latest addition to its pressroom, among them: “Automation has enabled faster changeover, thus allowing us to use a wider range of board stocks,” and “Superior print quality, color-scanning capabilities, and ease of maintenance all contributed to our choice of the Speedmaster CD 102.”
