Finnish-owned flexible-packaging converter Wipak UK purchases a Flexotecnica N8G gearless CI-flexo press (www.flexotecnica.it) for its Welshpool, England, facility. Wipak UK converts printed-film packaging for perishable-food customers. It carried out successful print trials at Flexotecnica in Italy this summer during commissioning of the 51-in. press, which also has two downstream units to apply both continuous or in-register patterned varnishes, lacquers or coatings to either front or reverse surfaces. The N8G chosen by Wipak has a repeat range of 14.6 to 35.4 in.

Flexotecnica's NG models come from a New Generation of gearless presses, which feature a new solid-deck design and high-speed printing performance. The press operates with tool-free quick change of plate and anilox sleeves, facilitated by pneumatic ejectors and includes the Speedy Clean® automatic washup system with VISCOCOLOR 2200 computer-aided viscosity controls.
