Knifeholder
The Gold Series knifeholder can make slits as small as 2 in. into weights up to 800 GSM at speeds up to 5,000 fpm. It features a calibrated depth knob for precise blade-anvil overlap and tool-free cant angle adjustment. These characteristics reduce dust, increase blade life, ensure maximum spatial nip-point stability and increase the quality of the cut. Camera-controlled slitting
Co. offers high-precision camera-controlled slitting integrated into its line of inspection and security machines. The camera locks the slitter to a printed feature or die-cut edge of the label, enabling the slitter unit to follow the motion of the features. This technology compensates the web weave at the slitter unit, greatly improving the accuracy of the slitting in a stop-and-go environment, co. says. Dual unwind with lamination
The Model 902 dual unwind stand is designed to pay off two substrates simultaneously and laminate them together prior to slitting and rewinding. Hot and cold lamination stations are available. The unwind can also be used as a single stand with lamination bypass. It can handle rolls up to 50 in. in diameter and 80-in.-wide webs. Turret rewind system
The Eikon turret rewind system has a differential friction shaft system and an automatic knife positioning system. It offers a totally automatic operational cycle, minimizing contact with the operator and the finished product. This system also includes a lineal track system for controlling tension and preserving the uniformity of the roll. COMEXI NORTH AMERICA, INC., 413/789-3800, fax: 413/821-9988, www.comexi.com
Rewinds/unwinds
Co.’s rewind/unwind units can be single position, single spindle units or turret type systems complete with automated splicing and transfer capabilities. Unwinds can be center braked, center driven or surface driven. Rewinds can be center or surface driven or a combination of both. RETROFLEX, INC., 920/532-4850, fax: 920/532-4854, www.retroflex.com
Slitter
The TDS Std slitter is available in widths up to 120 in., rewind diameters up to 72 in. and speeds up to 6,000 fpm. It can handle substrates from tissue to heavy board grades and is equipped with fully automatic slitting. Twin motor drives and a bowed roll arrangement make it capable of narrow slits over the full web. WEBCO ENGINEERING, INC., 508/366-7384, fax: 508/898-2878, www.webcoeng.com
Log slitting machine
Co. adds a new log slitting machine to its E-Series. The E2/190B-NM5 uses two superimposed rotating blades that can cut two logs at a time. It incorporates brushless technology to increase productivity and lower maintenance. CMC CEVENINI, 410/796-7944, fax: 410/769-7919, www.cmccevenini.com
Slitter/rewinder
Co.’s rapid-automatic slitter/rewinder for paper and paperboard features integrated finished roll delivery, winding parameter memory and a maintenance-free three-phase AC drive technology. It has a very short web path between the slitting and winding unit, improving roll separation, co. says.
