Muhlhofen, Austria-based Teich AG, part of the Constantia Packaging Group, installs an in-line Emerald SIL 8-color, gearless press from Uteco Converting (www.uteco.com). The UV-flexo press features a reversible, downstream unit equipped with gravure trolley (for water/solvent-based coating) and a flexographic trolley for one additional UV-flexo color/varnish.
All eight flexo-print units have Uteco direct-drive technology and are connected via an electronic line shaft. The gearless system, which directly links the servomotors to the plate-sleeve mandrels, uses the Eltromat register controller for perfect register tolerances between print units. Each flexo print unit is further equipped with an on-press sleeve-change system for both the plate sleeves and aniloxes; and Noelle inert UV-curing unit. The downstream gravure unit employs a 30-ft double-drying vertical hood.
Teich specializes in printed packaging for the confectionery and pharmaceutical markets. The Emerald SIL press is used mainly to print on aluminum foil and various laminated substrates.
