Extension modules enhance capabilities

Extension modules can be added to the Diana Pro folder/gluer models (74, 94 and 114) to enhance the basic capabilities of the machines. Each extension module adds almost 5 ft to the folding path, permitting more longitudinal and cross folds to be made. These high-speed folder/gluers have a highly flexible folding station with various folding sequences and DIAlog process control for easier setting and operation. New on the Converting Floor: New Jersey Packaging installs Elite folder/gluer

Fairfield, NJ-based New Jersey Packaging, a division of Wisconsin’s Menasha Corp., expands its production capacity with the addition of its new state-of-the-art facility in Raleigh, NC. Opened in June, the 30,000-sq-ft facility will greatly enhance the company’s folding carton capabilities, says Gene Dul, New Jersey Packaging president.

The company installed a Signature™ Elite 90 folder/gluer with In-Line Carton Ejection from American Intl. Machinery, Inc. (www.aim-inc.net). The Elite has a built-in carton alignment section at the exit of the feeder to keep the carton straight and eliminates skewing, thus increasing production rates. It has a 99-job memory with instant recall and has a belt speed of about 1,805 fpm.

New Jersey Packaging also has the option of adding a servo-driven back-fold system for four- and six-corner capabilities, which allows cartons to be backfolded at a speed of 45,000 cartons per hour. Along with the Elite, a Signature Speed-O-Line Pack Assist Station was also installed for high-speed straight line production. Data collection software

Created for corrugated box manufacturers, the VisiPro software and OT-12 control package monitor flexo-folder/gluers live. The VisiPRO is a web browser application that provides live production status for downtime tracking, defect/scrap monitoring, historical machine data and event tracking. Its graphical presentations provide measurable process data critical for ROI analysis and capacity analysis, co. says. New on the Converting Floor: Emballages buys Vesta 800 folder/gluer

After inspecting several companies’ folder/gluer offerings, Emballages Anjou (Anjou, Quebec, Canada), a leading folding carton and box manufacturer in Canada, finally settled on the Vesta 800 from Matik North America (www.matik.com). Installed in June, Emballages is already seeing results with improved productivity.

“Emballages chose the Vesta 800 folder gluer on the basis of the machine’s capabilities,” says Paul Scardera, Emballages general manager. “The unique capabilities of the machine offer us the ability of changeover quickly, to produce a wide range of carton styles and is a rugged, durable machine offering excellent value.”

The Vesta comes with two touch-screen counters (one at feeder and one at delivery), the “Vesta-Set” semi-automatic system and job parameter memorization. It is capable of handling many carton styles, including four- and six-corner, straight-line and lock-bottom. It has a maximum belt speed of 1,268 fpm, 23.6- to 43.3-in. working widths and can handle stock up to E-flute corrugated. Emballages Anjou, 514-355-2929, fax: 514/355-3928. Improves make-ready times

The OmniFold Automatic Folder/Gluer has a vertical buckle plate that overcomes crows feet or wrinkling issues without the need of a tipper plate. It also has bearing bed drives that can be removed in seconds for easy cleaning, include ruled tie bars and eliminate friction between the drive belts and converting table. These features improve makeready times, co. says, and the quick bearing bed removal also means a 10-minute belt replacement. BRANDTJEN & KLUGE, INC., 800/826-7320, fax: 715/483-1640, www.kluge.biz

Carrier can be lifted to 90 degrees

Co.’s folding and gluing Combo Series features a carrier on the pre-break section that can be lifted to 90 degrees. These machines can create straighline and lockbottom cartons, and four- and six-corner collapsible boxes. Their operating speeds range from 64 to 1,251 fpm. An optional back folding system can be installed at a later time. BRAUSSE GROUP, 888/BRAUSSE, fax: 604/278-1005 www.brausse.com
