Ft. Dearborn employs Kodak Spotless for 7-color printing
Staff -- Converting Magazine, 7/1/2006
Elk Grove Village, IL-based package printer Fort Dearborn Co. is using new Kodak SPOTLESS 2.0 software to deliver 7-color printing with four process colors and reduce the need for spot-color inks. It also does away with native file editing and eliminates the need for reformulation or proprietary inks, Kodak says. The SPOTLESS printing solution generates 5- and 7-color screen-tint recipes in addition to the previous 4- and 6-color capability, expanding the gamut, Kodak says.
“SPOTLESS printing is a fantastic tool that has automated our front-end workflow,” says Amir Uddin, director of quality and technical services at Fort Dearborn (above). “The conversions are automatic, so we can print the files without spot-color inks. For shorter runs, especially, the savings are enormous.”
