AC drives

Co. offers two new AC drives—PowerFlex 40P and PowerFlex 700L. The 40P features encoder or pulse-train input, allowing configured closed-loop control for improved speed regulation, basic position control or other pulse inputs for motor control. The 700L liquid-cooled drive can withstand increasingly rugged environments and features a single-cooling input and output to the insulated gate bipolar transistor.

Brake motors

Co. offers low-inertia, high-cycle brake motors with cast aluminum, footless frames for increased thermal dissipation. Their low-inertia design makes them suited for continuous start/stop applications. The brake coil is powered by an integral rectifier and is connected in the motor conduit box so it can be separately connected if the motor is used with an inverter.

Torque limiter

The Mechanical torque limiter isolates the driving from the driven elements within milliseconds, co. says. It features overload protection, low residual friction following disengagement and low moment of inertia. It is backlash-free and torsionally rigid.

Converters can choose level of material control

Co. announced changes to its line of Equalizer Series differential shafts. Three new shaft designs will allow converters to choose the level of control required for the materials they work with. The new D4 is designed to eliminate dust and improve roll quality, while enhancements to the existing D2 and D3 models are designed to reduce setup time and deliver maximum control over roll build.

Air-roll-lock differential shaft

Recent advances to its air-roll-lock differential shaft simplifies the converting process, co. says. Using an internal clutching mechanism to control tension eliminates operator error and can improve roll quality. Co. also adds its Glidelock rollers to its shafts to ease the unloading processes. The Glidelock also auto-locks to equalize tension on multiple-width cores.

Flexo cylinder

The Air-Ease line of wide-web flexo cylinders and sleeve tooling mandrels incorporates unique air patterns, sleeve pin or end stops, internal air piping, chrome plating and high-yield strength journals. They are available in standard steel, thin-wall steel, carbon fiber and aluminum, with single- or multi-chamber air designs.

Spreader roll

The WrinkleSTOP® and Multi-Adjust® WrinkleStop®, no-bow, expanding, smooth surface spreader roll systems remove wrinkles with no web distortion and offer edge-to-edge adjustability. They can go from 0- to 100-percent spread while the web is in motion and can significantly reduce scrap. They accept many materials at any wrap angle, even with extremely short lead-in and lead-out web distances.

Circuit board improves controllers

The CB-64 circuit board powers dancer, load cell and combination tension controllers. It can be configured to operate unwind, rewind and intermediate tension-zone processes. It features industrial standard field-bus connections, web-break detection, inertia compensation and has an RS-232 interface.

Tension control for dancer applications

The Spyder tension control is now available to control dancer or load-cell applications. It features DIN rail mounts for quick installation and setup, Ethernet communications and user-friendly keypad and display.

Tension system

Co.’s Integrated Tension System packages all electrical and pneumatic components in a single, ready-to-mount, NEMA-style enclosure. The Model EP.03 is ideal for simplifying installation of a new or upgraded, closed-loop tension control system. The MW.90.10 offers three P.I.D. settings for acceleration, deceleration and running to maintain consistent tension relative to line speed.

Analog tension measuring amplifier

Co. introduces the new EMGZ306A.CAL analog tension measuring amplifier with a built-in auto calibration button. Pressing the CAL button simulates a 4.5mV output used as the reference point for calibration without the need to hang weights. Co. also offers a free, downloadable load cell calibration tool that determines the appropriate setting for the amplifier. The unit is DIN rail mountable.

Static control system

The PerforMAX 3 can eliminate static charges 2 to 10 in. from the web and from up to 20 in. away on winders. It can also neutralize charged materials traveling up to 2,500 fpm. It is available in three configurations : standard, computer interface and hazardous location system. The different configurations provide completely monitored static control regardless of the environment.

Web cleaning system

Co.’s web cleaning systems are designed to remove contaminants, such as slitting dust and converting debris, from web or sheet substrates or process rolls. Inspects with line-scan camera

Knifeholder upgrade eases repositioning

Operators can move manual knifeholders in seconds, without tools, with co.’s Easy Glider. It moves smoothly on linear bearings to ensure the knifeholders glide into their new position with a light touch. Doctor blade

The MDC One-Step specialty doctor blade is thicker at the base and extends close to the contact metering point. The design allows thicker ink to meter normally. Web guide controller

The H6423 web-guide controller is designed for machines that use a human machine interface or industrial network communication. Safety chuck

Sliding safety chucks

Curing system

Co.’s UV Optimum Inline Curing System can be installed on all flexo, gravure and folding carton presses and are available in widths from 10 to 110 in. No chiller system is required for this UV lamp system and the elimination of a gas-fired oven or incinerator decreases capital and operational costs, co. says.
