Controls electrostatic dissipation
Co. now provides customizable electrostatic dissipation (ESD) properties for its Durethane™ rollers. These rollers are ideal for a wide range of product applications that generate tribocharge through roller friction. Chemists modify the conductive properties of the urethane homogeneously at the molecular level so that the roller retains the durability, coefficient of friction and other properties of urethane materials.

Carbon-fiber rolls reduce damage
Designed to reduce web damage, co.'s carbon-fiber rollers have a much lower moment of inertia and greater stiffness to deflect less and prevent web wrinkling. The rollers are coated with "Durastat," a smooth, conductive polymer coating, which dissipates static electricity.

Laser-engraved anilox rolls
Co. supplies laser-engraved anilox rolls to narrow- and wide-web markets. The rolls feature an extremely durable surface, with a minimum of 1,300 Vickers, tensile strength of over 5,000 psi and a maximum .001-in. TIR. These rolls are available in a variety of engraving angles.

Perforating roll
The S-119 perforating roll consists of a series of pinned sleeves mounted on a shaft. The pattern of the perforations can be varied by adding, removing or changing the sleeved pins. These rolls can be used in-line or as stand-alone units.

Idlers eliminate trapped air
The WINertia Av™ dead-shaft idlers eliminate trapped air between the idler and the web. The rolls grip the web, minimizing scratching, slipping or bunching, even on thin films. Their end caps are part of the WINlock™ bore system, which extends the life of the bearings by shielding the free-spin bearings from dirt.

Heat-transfer rolls use spiral flow
Gross® Equatherm heat-transfer rolls have process water flowing through a stainless-steel spiral with a PTFE gasket, forming a sealed flow path between the roll's inner and outer shell. The spiral design allows operation at maximum web speed with minimum water flow. The rolls combat across-the-web variations in gauge and appearance by holding temperature across the roll face within +/-1 deg F.

Reduces web scratching
The low rotational mass of co.'s standard carbon-fiber, composite idler rolls allows them to match web speed, thus reducing web scratching and stretching. They are available in an interchangeable live-shaft or dead-shaft design and can be manufactured with various wall thicknesses and tube stiffness.

Cylinder smoothes web wrinkles
The Polyband® Expander is said to be more efficient than a slat expander and bow roll combined. It features equidistant grooves machined into the cylinder to house 30 highly elastic polymer bands for smoothing out web wrinkles. The bands run end-to-end and are individually adjustable.

Roll layer ideal for special coatings
An extra-thick, outer epoxy layer on these carbon-fiber rolls protects the rolls' layers of wound filaments while providing the ideal surface for custom roll treatments, co. says. The surface layer is made from a hardened gauze/epoxy winding formed to thicknesses of 0.0020 to 0.0050 in. as needed.

Glassed-steel treater rolls
Tested on oriented polypropylene films at Exxon-Mobil Chemical Films Div., co.'s glassed-steel treater rolls for corona treatment were able to achieve desired treatment levels near the treater's minimum power level. The rolls offer the potential to apply a thinner, more electrically-efficient coating than other dielectric materials, co. says.

Rolls for thermal processing
Co.'s induction-heated Jacket Roll® and Cooling Hybrid Roll® provide thermal processing for synthetic fibers, non-wovens, film and paper. Their ultra-high-precision thermal processing technology allows control of surface temperatures to within 0.5 deg C. This provides for micron-level accuracy for thickness, control of base-material textures and high-temperature processing without roll distortion.

Anti-wrinkle scroll roll is submersible
Co. introduces a multi-lead scroll roll, an anti-wrinkle technology for web runs of foil, textiles, non-wovens, paper and heavier gauge (10 mil and up) plastics. It can be submerged in liquids, is designed to deliver uniform spreading across the web width and is said to be ideal for light-tension, high-speed (1,000 fpm) applications.
