Converter ISO Poly Films, Inc. (Gray Court, SC) is on a roll. The company just purchased the fourth in a planned set of six high-barrier, blown-film extrusion lines. The 7-layer VAREX system from Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp. (Lincoln, RI) features the suppliers' new FILMATIC Tx dual-turret winder—the first such Tx winder reportedly sold in North America. The line is expected to be installed in September.
ISO Poly serves the specialty-film needs of the package-printing and converting markets. Last year, it began a $25 million expansion to more than double the size of its South Carolina facility and grow business in high-end multilayer films for the medical and food industries. "We are confident that the new 7-layer line will help us meet the future needs of the marketplace," says Jon McClure, ISO Poly chief executive officer.
The new VAREX line is also equipped with W&H's MAXICONE multilayer die and the OPTIFIL P2 thermal gauge-profile control. The FILMATIC Tx winder can produce rolls up to 47-in. dia., has adhesive-free web transfer on changeover and offers center, gap and reverse winding capabilities. It will be installed in a face-to-face configuration, ISO Poly says.
