Point-and-click programming

The STAC6-Si high-performance stepper drives are programmable for standalone operation. A graphical point-and-click format combines motion, I/O and operator interface functionality for simple machine sequencing. As a result, these drives easily integrate on a machine with other devices such as sensors and PLCs. They feature current output from 0.5 to 6.0 A with 90–135 VAC input, 50/60 Hz and software selectable resolutions from 200 to 51,200 steps/rev at speeds up to 133 rps.

Sensorless torque control

The Unidrive SP AC drive provides sensorless torque control from zero speed, considerable on-board programming and Profibus communication plus servo mode. It offers open-loop, closed- and open-loop vector, servo and regenerative control modes coupled with 14 types of feedback, all industry-standard network protocols, additional I/O plug-ins, SmartCard parameter set-up and a range of keypad choices.

All-digital drives

Co.'s SECO FX4000 Fusion™ all-digital vector drives combine a high performance AC flux vector drive, high horsepower servo drive, programmable motion controller and PLC into a single package. A unique drive architecture enables these drives to control AC induction, AC synchronous or brushless DC motors with a power range from 1 to 350 HP. They are ideal for positioning applications such as web tension control, traversing and indexing.

Drives with increased functionality

Co.'s new H2 family of industrial drives has enhanced ease of use over the previous Harmonized drives. A larger graphic display has been added, along with more keys, directional arrows and enhanced soft programming keys. Extensive diagnostic information is available with new "error logging" and "help text" features. Initially, power will range from 1 through 60 HP, later through 450 HP and custom design units through 1,500 HP.

Motor controller

With two inputs and four outputs, the SMC Flex motor controller with integrated I/O helps users control processes and monitor motor systems from the networked soft-starter. The two inputs help improve process monitoring and provide greater access to diagnostic information. The four output devices enable users to extend control capabilities to other processes, reducing the burden on a separate programmable controller.

Brushless motor

The MDM 5000, co.'s new brushless motor, offers up to 124-lbs-per-in. continuous stall torque in a compact, 110-mm package. It also comes in 58- and 85-mm sizes. It can be used with virtually all amplifiers and controllers. It features NEMA, IEC motor mounting or custom mechanical interfaces, is CE/UL compliant and offers multiple voltage capabilities. The winding density is made up of a proprietary segmented lamination technology and a neodymium magnet array for maximum power output.

Inverter

The 3G3MV-P10CDT-E on-board PLC installs directly on co.'s 3G3MV inverter, increasing the inverter's intelligence and autonomy for tasks like positioning and synchronization. The inverter and PLC combination is ideal for multi-step packaging lines, winders and intelligent conveyor lines., co. says.

Digital proofing display at IPEX 06

Co. will display its latest software and proofing technology at IPEX 06, April 4 – 11 in Birmingham, UK. Among the products on display will be co.'s FlexoProof. Specifically tailored for the packaging industry, it supports flexo file formats, has a complete Pantone® spot color library and an out-of-register and printing substrate simulation. It also includes DotProof, which allows users to generate contract-quality halftone proofs.

Plate proofing and mounting

The FlexMont family of mounting and proofing machines are designed for flexographic printing plates. The series has a printing width range of 33 to 63 in. and printing repeat range of 31 to 51 in. The registration marks are scanned by a camera with 100x magnification and displayed on monitors. Once the plate microdots are aligned to the crosshairs on the monitors, the plate is then mounted precisely on the sleeves or printing cylinders. All models are equipped with an optical guiding system.

Proofing software

New Kodak PressProof software extends the benefits of monitor proofing to the pressroom. Using SWOP-certified technology, PressProof lets press operators see the same color-accurate proof approved by all involved in the creative and production process. Press staff can select and display the appropriate surface for comparison with press samples. PressProof also integrates with the Kodak Prinergy® workflow system, eliminating the need to manage separate proofing and prepress production. It runs on either the EIZO Coloredge 21-in. or the Apple Cinema Display LCD monitors.
