Load cells

With water-resistant protection rating

Co. introduces its U-Series load cells, which are made of stainless steel and carry an IP67 classification, water-resistant protection rating. The low-profile design permits more accurate measurement of web tension due to a new beam design and limited response to non-tension related forces, co. says. The series comes in two sizes, the U50 and U75, with load ratings up to 5,000 lbs and one special order size, U125, with a load rating as high as 15,000 lbs.

Ink pump

Combines two removable heads

The Dual Head Peristaltic Ink Pump combines two removable heads powered by a single motor, which allows users to supply ink and draw it back from one deck, supply the same ink to two decks or supply two different inks to two different decks. The variable speed of the pump facilitates a variety of flow conditions. The heads can be removed from the pump with a "quick release" bar, and the new pump heads, with tubing already installed, can reportedly be placed on the pump within seconds.

Sheeter

Avoids damaging sheet surfaces

Instead of top tapes in the catching station and brake rollers in the overlapping station, the FS PRO sheeter uses a vacuum-belt system that works from the bottom, at the back end of the sheet, to slow down and transport the material. By doing so, the sheeter avoids marks on the top, as well as on the bottom, of the sheets and eliminates the "star sky effect." It is 30 percent smaller than conventional sheeters and runs 70-gsm coated paper at 300 meters per min.

Doctor blades

With chamber wrap

Co.'s new chamber-wrap doctor blades come with plastic film attached to the doctor blade. When installed in a holder, the plastic wraps around the holder and fastens to the chamber body. Ink that normally builds up on the doctor-blade chamber instead builds up on the film wrap. When the doctor blade is removed from the chamber, the build-up is removed with it. This is especially effective for capturing excess ink generated from back doctoring, co. says.
