Helsinki, Finland-based substrate provider UPM says Jan. 19 that it has merged its Raflatac label stock and UPM Rafsec units into a single new business. The combined UPM Raflatac unit will provide pressure-sensitive label stocks and RFID tags and inlays.
Flint Group has been selected as the new name for the holding company created by the merger late last year of Luxembourg inkmaker XSYS Print Solutions and Flint Ink Corp. (Ann Arbor, MI). Flint Group's core ink business delivers products and services to the flexo, sheetfed and web offset, gravure, energy-curable, and specialty printing markets. XSYS Print Solutions provides narrow-web inks to tag and label printers worldwide.
Pawtucket, CT-based Davis-Standard LLC restructures its business into two operating units: Converting Systems and Extrusion Systems. The Converting group encompasses cast and blown film, palletizing, blow molding, liquid and extrusion coating and winding applications. Extrusion Systems includes fiber, sheet, elastomer, lab and specialty systems, wire and cable, pipe, profile and tubing, compounding, recycle and reclaim process areas.
Subsequent to Dutch pressmaker Drent Goebel's acquisition last summer of Montreal, Canada-based web-press manufacturer RDP Marathon, the company has renamed RDP Marathon to Drent Goebel North America, Inc. Huib van den Heuvel, technical director for Drent Goebel, has relocated to Montreal and will be president of Drent Goebel North America, where he will manage the Canadian and US operations.
