Staff -- Converting Magazine, 7/1/2005

Lemont, IL-based Genesis Packaging & Design invests in equipment to provide curing of UV coatings inline on a new flexo press. Genesis converts die-cut corrugated, folding cartons and point-of-purchase displays. The converter's new Model PW-65 four-color CI-flexo press from Wolverine Flexographic Mfg. Co. (Farmington, MI) was installed in March. It is outfitted with Prime UV Systems' (Carol Stream, IL) Prime Optimum UV equipment for curing high-gloss protective coatings. The 68-in.-wide, two-lamp Prime UV system allows full web-width curing on the 66-in. press, and production can run at speeds up to 750 fpm.

Schaumburg, IL-based Pliant Corp. purchases two 65-in. Infiniti™ gearless CI-flexographic printing presses from Paper Converting Machine Co. (Green Bay, WI). The new presses will be installed in Pliant plants in McAlester, OK, and Macedon, NY.
