Ampac completes Kapak acquisition
Staff -- Converting Magazine, 7/1/2005
Cincinnati-based flex-pack maker Ampac Packaging LLC completes its acquisition of Kapak Co. LLC, Minneapolis, on May 31. Kapak specializes in gravure printing and converting, particularly for standup pouches for the food, medical, ag-chem and HBA markets.
Former Kapak president Gary Bell is leaving Kapak to focus independently on flexible-packaging product development. Ampac's new management team is headed by George Thomas, who has been the acting chief operating officer for Kapak since November. He is also vice president of business development for Ampac.
The privately held Ampac is owned by management, together with equity backing by Key Principal Partners and Pouschine Cook Capital Management. It operates nine sites in North America and Asia, employing approximately 850 people with revenues in excess of $200 million annually.
