Ampac Packaging, LLC (Cincinnati), forms a new united business unit—Ampac Flexibles, combining the recently acquired Kapak Corp. (Minneapolis) and Flexicon, Inc. (Chicago), along with Ampac's existing Performance Films group (Cincinnati). Both Kapak and Flexicon will operate under Ampac Flexibles-Converted Products, and the company's existing Performance Films group will operate as Ampac Flexibles-Performance Films.
Union Industries, Inc., a Providence, RI-based converter of flexible packaging, changes its name to Admiral Packaging, Inc., to more accurately reflect its primary line of business and the markets it serves. The 107-year-old company says that it plans to expand its business through strategic marketing and manufacturing initiatives, which include recent equipment investments. Among them is the installation of a Nordmeccanica Super Duplex Compact SL laminator, reportedly the first of its kind in the US, which runs at 2,000 fpm.
Rochester, NY-based converter Hammer Lithograph Corp. changes its corporate name to Hammer Packaging. The new moniker better encompasses both its offset (Hammer Lithograph) and flexographic (New Frontier Packaging) print technologies, the company says.
