The ProFlex press is available in 13-, 16-, 18- and 20-in. width models. Offered with standard overhead dryers or overhead chill-drum dryers, the press has a unique cylinder-wrap control for managing tension. Diecutting and sheeting are also available. Pneumatic clamping system
A splice table option
Co. introduces a pneumatic clamping system as a splice table option for its AccuGuide™ PDG-AP Series positive displacement guides. To grip the web, it uses a bladder clamping system activated by solenoid valves that can be integrated into any converting machine. The pneumatic splicing table can be designed to fit any size PDG.

Rotating unions for calender rolls
Maintains desired temperature level
The Deublin 6400 series rotating unions maintain the desired temperature level for calender rolls that are up to 3 ft in diameter, with widths of more than 18 ft. Equipped with co.'s "Cartridge Seal" technology, the unions allow operators to carry out on-the-machine replacement of seals because they do not need to be dismantled from the rolls.

UV laminating adhesive
Fast curing on polypropylene substrates
Co. developed a new UV-curable laminating adhesive, called FA33FLA, which can be cured at speeds up to 300 fpm, using one 300-watt-per-in. lamp. Extensive laboratory and field testing has been done with a variety of polypropylenes, co. says, which found that this adhesive works well with substrates that other adhesives were unable to work with.

Robotic tube stacker
Latest addition to co.'s multiwall technology
Outfitted with the industrial arm software and gripper system of the Acromat® 2 palletizer, the Robotic Tube Stacker® is able to stack tubes and finished pinch sacks at seven to eight hands/min. This allows the tuber and pinch bottomer to run at maximum speed. The hands are also smaller, enabling a smoother palletizing job with less creasing and wrinkling of paper sacks, co. says.

Digital-offset label press
For short-to-medium runs
The HP Indigo press ws4050 accommodates pressure-sensitive label and shrink-sleeve printing, substrates ranging from 12 to 250 microns and allows unlimited designs with up to seven colors. This includes white and spot colors. Printing speed is 52.5 fpm in four-color mode and 104 fpm in one or two-color mode. The system integrates with downstream finishing units such as digital diecutters, embossers, stampers and sheeters.

Polyester lidding film
FDA-compliant
The transparent PET LumiLid® XL5 lidding film, now FDA-approved for direct food contact, seals to APET, APET coated board, CPET, PP, HDPE and HIPS. This eliminates the need for different types of films for multiple lidding applications, including containers with pleated corners, co. says. Flexo varnishes

Co.'s Datalase™ products are UV curable, semi-gloss flexo varnishes that can be applied on plastic and paper label stocks. The coatings have excellent laser imaging properties with low-energy CO2 lasers, co. says. They cure to a smooth satin finish without yellowing and are resistant to scuffs and scratches.

Control system
For co.'s film and sheet extrusion lines
Co. developed a control system, called the Distributed I/O System, for its film and sheet extrusion lines in order to improve machine operation and reduce installation time. The self-contained control module mounts directly on the extrusion equipment, eliminating the need for remote control cabinets and interconnect cables. This cuts installation time by about 50 percent and reduces cable installation cost by 75 percent, co. says.

RFID-label applicator
With "detect & reject" capabilities
To reduce costly radio frequency identification (RFID) label damage, co. designs the ALX RFID Print/Apply system, which encodes and prints RFID labels and automatically applies them to cartons, cases and pallets. During the encoding process, it detects and then rejects miscoded or unreadable RFID labels. It can also process labels of various sizes and microchip locations.

Electrostatic fieldmeter
For locating static charges
The FMX-003 is a pocket-sized electrostatic fieldmeter used for locating and measuring static charges. It measures static voltages within ±22,000V at a distance of 1 in. and displays the results numerically and in bar graph format. The HOLD button allows the display to retain the static charge reading, which is useful when the display is difficult to see during measurement.

Splice detector
Offered on precision sheeters
Co. is offering a splice detector on its precision sheeters to insure that the skids of sheeted stock delivered to the press are free of splices. Mounted prior to the cutter infeed, the detector senses a change in web thickness and signals the reject gate to divert the spliced sheet at speeds up to 300 cuts per min. It can detect a single splice within a pack of up to eight webs.
