Duplex slitter/rewinders
Fits small, medium operations
The new Star-Slit line of duplex slitter/rewinders, introduced at CMM Intl. 2005, is targeted for small- and medium-sized converting operations that may not be able to afford customized machinery. The standardized and built-in series of Star-Slit equipment offers attractive pricing, short lead times and is equipped with the most common accessories and options. Based on co.'s original series of duplex slitter/rewinders first built in the 1950s, Star-Slit machines are continuously improved to reflect state-of-the-art technology, co says. Technical support, service and spare parts are available.

AC drive
Minimizes panel space
The Reliance Electric™ GV6000 Drive comes with an Operator Interface Module (OIM) to provide metering, programming and operator control. This OIM is removable and contains "CopyCat" functionality for transferring parameter sets between drives. Designed to minimize panel space, the drive is zero stacking so that multiple drives can be mounted next to each other without spaces in between. The GV600 is ideal for stand-alone, retrofit or new equipment where high power density is needed, co. says.

Synthetic paper
Printable, durable
Polyart™ printable, durable synthetic paper has an unusual clay coating for vibrant, colorful imaging. It withstands water, grease, weather, chemicals and also resists tearing in both directions. Polyart performs well for embossing, foil-stamping, diecutting, perforating and laminating. Applications include horticultural tags, maps, outdoor posters and luggage tags. Polyart also complies with FDA regulations for direct food contact.

Pressure-sensitive label film
Four facestock types
Insight™ is co.'s new line of pressure-sensitive film-on-film, which consists of four film facestocks, a clear adhesive and 1.2-mil polyester liner. One of the facestocks, the 2-mil TC Clear Conformable BOPP, is for applications requiring a full squeeze "no label" look and is suited for irregularly shaped packages. The 20-20™ adhesive has high shear value, and the liner offers a consistent release range, co. says.

Label applicator
For 30 RFID labels/min
The 3600RW Label Printer/Applicator allows users to print, validate, write and affix radio frequency identification labels in a single process. It can do the entire process at speeds up to 30 labels per min. The read/write head of the unit inspects each transponder at the point of label application to make sure it is good. Transponders that are defective are discarded.

EB-curing system
Features shorter web path
The EZCure-DF™ electron-beam system features a shorter web path and can be integrated onto existing or new production lines with product widths from 20 to 54 in. It is designed to cure wet-on-wet EB offset inks, wet-on-wet EB CI-flexo inks, coatings and laminating adhesives. It can also cure EB laminating adhesives, which are solvent-free and cure instantly.

Security film
Covert and overt authentication
Two new technologies are now available for the fight against counterfeiting. The Bio-Molecular Fingerprint, developed by identify GmbH of Erlangen, Germany, combined with the Color Spectra Film, include human- and machine-detectable "signatures" that can be integrated into forgery-proof packaging or labeling.

Unwind and rewind
Changes rolls automatically
Co.'s STS automatic splicing unwind and STR automatic turret rewind were featured on the Ko-Pack Euroflex Press at Interpack 2005. The STS changes rolls automatically, at full press speed, thus eliminating downtime associated with manual roll changes. Like the STS, the STR also changes rolls automatically. Both are compact units, keeping the overall press footprint small.

Portable meter
Can store 100 data points
The Spectrum 4 Process Multimeter checks and stores web speed to the nearest tenth of a meter or yard per min and the web stretch and shrinkage to the nearest tenth of a percent. Operators can download up to 100 data points to a PC. Optional contact and non-contact sensors are recognized by the unit, and it calibrates itself to read the variable to be sensed, its range and its unit of measure.

Servo amplifier
Eliminates cogging and torque ripple
The TA320 linear three-phase servo amplifier allows motion system designers to integrate the latest developments in sinusoidal motor control, and its benefits of zero cogging and no torque ripple, into applications such as high-resolution inspection systems or metrology instruments. Its very low electrical noise makes it ideal for integration in or near systems that have noise-sensitive circuitry such as transducers and sensors, co. says.
