New ultrasonic-array edge detectors can monitor web width variations up to 22.4 in. Accurate web widths and position measurements are possible when the array detectors are combined with the co.'s Micro 4000T NET controller and web width monitor software. The controller can be programmed to trigger alarms when the web width is out-of-tolerance or when the web drifts laterally beyond preset limits. A three-button remote station provides a simple operator interface to allow quick set-up of all tolerance and limit settings.
