Pliant Corp. to buy three Varex blown-film lines

Schaumburg, Ill.-based Pliant Corp. will install three Varexr blown-film extrusion lines from Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp. by late June next year.

The converter, formerly Huntsman Packaging Corp., is a value-added manufacturer of flexible packaging for food, personal-care, medical and industrial markets.

The Varex equipment, which will include Optifilr P-2 automatic blown-film dies, will bring the number of W & H lines to eight at the company. The latest three systems are monolayer-two are identical 63-in. lines with Filmaticr K winders, and one is an 83-in. line with an M winder.

Pliant reportedly has annual sales of $800 million and operates 24 converting and R & D facilities worldwide.
