Expanding its Vision: Neenah, Wis.-based Outlook Group Corp. adds a 37-in. quick-changeover Visiont II CI-flexo press from PCMC, Green Bay, Wis. The eight-color system provides printing for short-run flexible film projects, complementing Outlook's longer-run flex-pack capabilities. Outlook will also install new platemaking and mounting, duplex slitter/ rewinder and laminating equipment, and will hire 10 new employees to support these expanding capabilities.

Z-Flute is zee way to go: Atlanta-based paperboard converter Riverwood Intl. says Oct. 11 it plans to expand into high-growth packaged-goods sectors. It will soon introduce Z-Flute, a high-performance product designed to replace both litho-laminate in corrugated preprint use, as well as reduce the need for corrugated overpackaging for products already in folding cartons.

BBA acquires AQF: Old Hickory, Tenn.-based BBA Group PLC acquires the nonwovens converter AQF Technologies, LLC, Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 2. BBA previously owned 15 percent of AQF and now owns the 85 percent interest that had been held by AQF Holdings, Inc.

Liquid-packaging plant to change hands: Finland-based Stora Enso intends to buy Tetra Pak's Forshaga packaging material production unit in Sweden. Tetra Pak will transfer production of semi-finished material from Forshaga to its plant in Singapore. Stora Enso will change the Forshaga product line mainly to PE-coating of gabletop liquid packaging board.

Wrapping up new slitter/ rewinder: Nonwoven producer Vitaweb, Rochdale, Ireland, recently installs a new slitting and rewinding machine by Ireland-based Delta Converting Equipment. The single-bar centre-surface rewinder has a web path that eliminates any possibility of interleaving the finished rewound rolls.

Pac-West joins Impaxx: Pac-West Label and Graphics connected Sept. 25 to the Impaxx Labels and Packaging Network, Schaumburg, Ill. Impaxx is a packaging materials and labeling equipment company organized in four disciplines: p-s labels, folding cartons, pharmaceutical labels and inserts, and label applicators. Pac-West converts multi-color, flexo-printed p-s labels for a variety of Southern California customers.

Chromas Technologies U.S. Division relocates: The narrow web pressmaker's new 12,000-sq-ft facility houses customer service and a demonstration and training center. New address: 5200 NW 33rd Ave., Ste. 104, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309, 877/CHROMAS, fax: 954/714-0866.

Digital printing is playing a key role in reviving sales of converted wallcoverings via mass customization and reduced inventories. Nearly a quarter of all wallcoverings may be digitally printed in 2004, says a new study by ITS Strategies (Hanover, MA) .
