Idlers used for running lighter webs

-- Converting Magazine, 11/1/2000

Webex, Inc., 920/729-6666, fax: 920/725-9992, www.webexinc.com Ultralighte aluminum idlers allow operators to run lighter webs at higher speeds. These idlers weigh as much as 60 percent less than standard rolls and offer breakaway torques as low as 0.2 oz/in. Ultralight is ideal for low-wrap, low-tension applications where web slippage is unacceptable. Manufactured entirely of aluminum except for the shafts and bearings, these idlers have special steel stub-shafts to eliminate the added weight of a full-length shaft. Double bearings at each end of the roll keeps stub-shafts true to the roll, minimizing bearing side loading.
