Damaged rolls salvaged with roll saver

-- Converting Magazine, 11/1/2000

Tidland Corp., 800/426-1000, fax: 360/834-5865, www.maxcessintl.com/tidland The Mark I and Mark II roll savers are designed to reshape out-of-round cores, allowing for shaft or chuck insertion on damage rolls, saving valuable material from the scrap pile. The Mark I generates up to 10,150 psi to damaged cores from its attached hydraulic oil pump and is available in 36, 48, 60 and 72 in. lengths to accommodate cores up to 140 in. total. The Mark II is lightweight and portable, 20 lbs. Its self-contained hydraulic pump delivers up to 9,000 psi. The steel jaws deliver a thrust of 4 tons to the core ID. The Mark II is recommended for 45-in. dia. rolls up to 36 in. wide and ideal for 23/4 to 3 in. ID. To use both models, insert the cone into the damaged core and position the expanding jaws to the areas of damage. Most cores can be repaired with minimal effort and labor.
