Lawrence, MA-based converter Eastern Packaging purchases the first flexographic-printing press jointly developed by the team of Battenfeld Gloucester Engineering Co., Inc. (Gloucester, MA) and its partner Converting Technology S.r.l. (Bussolengo, Italy).

The new FlexoElite press, a 53-in. wide, 8-color gearless system, will be used by Eastern Packaging to print graphics-intensive flexible-packaging films. The press series incorporates a newly patented print-deck design (EasyLock and LinearSet), which is said to provide the most accurate deck positioning in the market. Designed for 8- and 10-color production up to 65 in. wide, the FlexoElite is capable of production speeds to 1,500 fpm, BG says.
