Gateway Packaging adds W&H bagmaker, tuber

Staff -- Converting Magazine, 3/1/2005

Granite City, IL-based converter Gateway Packaging Co. installs a new PB 2555 Pinch-Bottomer bagmaker and AM® 8115 tuber. Production is expected to be up and running this month on the equipment supplied by Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp., Lincoln, RI. The installation, which is reportedly the first of its type in North America, will allow Gateway Packaging to offer customers an alternative way to package their products, namely the MBOM (Mitered-Bottom, Open-Mouth) bag, as the company calls its new bag type. The PB 2555 Pinch-Bottomer processes flat- and side-gusseted tubing into open-mouth, pinch-bottom sacks at speeds to 250 bags/min when operating in-line with a tuber.
